Joni Sternbach.

Surfers by Joni Sternbach is a series of portraits shot with an 8×10 view camera using the wet-plate collodion process, requiring her to do all the negative preparation and development on site. Impressive. via.

Jessica Backhaus.

I love Jessica Backhaus’s imagery. These two photos are from her series What Still Remains.

Greater Atlanta by Mark Steinmetz.

I just picked up the new book Greater Atlanta by photographer Mark Steinmetz from the library. Great work covering the greater Atlanta area from 1992 through 2008.

Matt Eich.

Matt Eich’s series Trouble the Water is intense, but I can’t stop looking at it.

Murray Ballard.

I was just looking through the winners of the Too Much Chocolate + Kodak Film Grant competition and I came across Murray Ballard and instantly fell in love with his project, The Prospect of Immortality. It is a look at cryonics, which is the practice of preserving a dead human or animal at extremely low temperatures, in the hopes that technology will advance enough to revive them to full health in the future. It is a beautifully photographed piece and leaves the viewer with so many questions.
